Dr. G was a joy to have as a teacher! I struggled with organizing my papers before, and his focus on structure and outlining is already helping my essay writing. I have a much better grasp on English grammar now as well. He’s a very goofy, accessible teacher, and I’d recommend him to anyone. He takes a different approach to teaching, but it works.

Dr. G. will teach you everything that you need for APA. He teaches skills that you may have forgotten, and makes you put those skills to use. He is an honest grader. There is no “A for effort” in his class. The grades come with detailed feedback. You will know exactly what was wrong, and how to fix it. I highly recommend this class.

Dr. G is a very good teacher. He takes the time to make sure every student understands and is more than welcome to stay after if you need extra help. Dr. G is hands-down one of the best professors I have encountered in college. He is a tough grader and definitely makes you work BUT he gives you many opportunities for an A. He lists extra credit almost weekly sometimes twice weekly, he is always available for tutoring and puts grades in timely. He honestly cares for his students.

Dr. G. is a very worldly professor. I loved the stories he told! He did the best he could given the hybrid format and a shortened term. The Business Plan was a doozy. Take advantage of the extra credit. Explains original methods that help in other classes! Spent at least 10 hours a week on work for this class. Got a higher grade than I expected.

Dr. G. is by far my favorite professor I’ve had yet! Funny, super smart, and willing to work with anyone in any situation. Dr. Guthridge will make you work for your grade; however, taking his advanced research writing class was very rewarding. While he can appear to be strict, he is very caring about his student’s progress. He gives great feedback, and is able to explain the material in a manner that is very easy to understand. Professor Guthridge is by far one of the best professors I have had. He has an amazing biography which is definitely implemented in his courses. Dr. G. has a mathematical approach to writing. His expectations are clearly explained. If you allow him to teach you, he will go above and beyond to help you achieve your goal. ENGL 381 A321 Special Topics in Creative Writing (2168) ( Tues. -Thurs. class) I enjoyed the class. Whatever topic we discussed in class, Professor George emailed the notes/slides or more info after class. We had lots of class discussion about developing our stories. I had to miss a couple classes and getting back on track was not difficult.

Dr. Guthridge is a well-known and highly respected professor. Take advantage of any tutoring sessions he offers outside of class to really improve your writing skills. He was tough, but provided helpful feedback to my papers. When I email questions on assignments, he would reply back to me the day I sent the emails. I am a far better writer since taking his class. It was hard his creative writing class. But I have to say, I had two other classes and a busy life and got an A. If you do the work, show up and ask what is expected from you, you will have a good grade. On the other hand, if you just want to sit down and do nothing and expect a good grade then this is not for you, probably college is not either.

Dr. Guthridge really makes you think. Listen and follow his directions. He’s not going to give you the answers but will guide you in the right direction. This class was only taught in 8 weeks but Professor G made it work for his students. He gives clear feedback on all papers and has a great crawl to walk pace even in a short time. I see some comments that his class is not worth to take, though it is not true 100%. They must be not doing their assignments that he gave them. He is very unorganized & changes his mind on requirements. He pushed back due dates to help us out. He sometimes gives amazing feedback. He does say everything we learned was wrong & he created a new way of writing. There is group work. I was told he answers phone calls unless he is at the movies, stays after class & emails when students need help.
